Off the Hook Chocolate Chip Bars
 

These things are amazing. The reason why you have a mom - to give you recipies like this one...

Ingredients

1 stick butter
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 teaspoon cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup Spanish peanuts

Instructions

  1. Cream fats and sugars
  2. Add egg yolks, water, vanilla, flour, and salt
  3. Spread in jelly roll pan (that's a 15.5 by 10.5 inches - a 9x13 inch pan should work ok)
  4. Sprinkle with nuts and chips, arrange carefully and press into dough slightly.
  5. Beat egg whites until stiff
  6. Add 1 cup brown sugar and mix another minute
  7. Spread on top of dough, nuts, and chips (A small knife and light touch will work better than a large spatula and brute force.)
  8. Bake 30 minutes at 350.
